USB Cooling Fan Governor. Model: ZK-UFS.
Our upgraded fan controller effectively manages fan speed across the entire range, from 2400 rpm to 7000 rpm. Unlike its cheaper counterpart, this model ensures there is no stalling above 6500 rpm and consistently spins the fan at low speeds. View the video below for basic operation and control of fan speed.
Usage method:
1. First, plug the male connector of USB Fan governor into the power interface such as mobile phone charger, power bank and computer USB (ensure that the power of power interface is greater than the required power of fan or LED light), and then plug ∪ sb fan plug or USB desk lamp plug into the female connector of USB fan governor. The governor default output is on.
2. The output voltage of the left dial of the dial wheel button increases; The right dial output voltage decreases.
3. Click the dial wheel button to switch the output on or off.
4. Double click the dial wheel button to turn off the nixie tube display. Press any button to wake up the nixie tube display.

Variable Fan Controller Instructions: Old Controllers (video below)
- Insert the Fan Controller into the phone charger or batter power bank, insert the fan USB plug into the USB port of the Fan Controller, and then turn the adjustment knob to adjust the speed of the fan. Turn the knob clockwise to increase the air volume. Turning it counterclockwise will make the air volume gentler and the knob has a switch function.
- The fan controller will operate your variable fan from approximately 2200 rpm to 6500 rpm.
- There are two no-go areas when using the controller:
- With a setting below approximately 2200 rpm
- The power being supplied may not be sufficient to operate the fan. If operating in this range, please ensure the fan is spinning. Increase the fan controller speed if the fan is not spinning.
- With a setting above approximately 6500 rpm:
- The controller can’t step up the power enough to run the fan when using a standard phone USB charger or with a battery power bank that supplies a 5-volt input. Above this setting, you will hear the fan cutting out and slowing down. Do not operate the fan in this setting. However, if the controller is supplied with 8 to 12 volts of input power, then this high-speed limit is not applicable, and the fan will operate up to 7500 rpm. It is highly improbable that speeds exceeding 6500 rpm will be needed for camera cooling and the noise level will be significantly louder. All testing data was conducted at 5000 rpm.
- With a setting below approximately 2200 rpm
- If the variable controller is unnecessary for every event, set it aside and connect the fan directly to the USB plug for a constant 4800-5000 rpm fan.
CAUTION: DO NOT operate the variable fan with a direct 12-volt input to the fan! The fan is only rated to a maximum of 8-volts. Using the fan controller ensures never exceeding this 8-volt maximum.
- Variable Fan Controller Specs:
- Input Power: DC 4-12V
- Output Power: DC 2.5V-8V
- Variable Fan Specs:
- Input Power: DC 3-8V
- RPM: 2200-7500
Notes:
- The Fan Controller is NOT waterproof!

Portable Charger Battery Bank
We recommend using a Portable Charger Battery Bank with at least 20000mAh capacity. This will run your camera and cooling fans for almost all day as the fans draw very little power. I’ve recorded 5 games once and still had power remaining. (your results may vary) These can be purchased for $30 to $100 and I’ve had great success with the lesser expensive ones, but have switched to the Crave Plus PRO. I prefer to have a battery with the new style USB C in and out and one with 3 power outlets.
- For better results and lower heat output from your device, ensure your device is fully charged so it is not generating extra heat to charge the internal battery. On days when it gets over 100 degrees, I remove the battery from the GoPro for this very reason.
- Also, don’t start out using a camera that has been heat-soaked sitting in the sun in your bag before the game starts. Keep those cameras in the shade or a ziplock bag in the ice cooler.
- Crave Plus Pro, model CRVPB20P1, 20000mAh (Amazon $99.99)
- IXNINE Power Bank 26800mAh Portable Charger (Amazon $35.99)
We recommend operating the GoPro WITHOUT the internal battery.
Our testing shows an increase of 7 degrees warmer outside air
temperature before thermal overheat and shutdown.
For the GoPro 9 and new models, we recommend using a USB C to USB C cable and a Portable Charger Battery Bank with a USB C (PD Out) port. USB-C supports the USB Power Delivery (USB PD) specification. The older USB ports can deliver just 2.5 to 15 watts of power and your GoPro might not operate with that depending on the firmware version installed. But USB PD can deliver up to 100 watts of power, more than six times what older USB ports can do.
Caution: DO NOT use a stepless speed controller module with our fixed RPM cooling fans.
This controller is only compatible with the variable speed fans introduced on 11/3/2023.
These devices control the fan’s speed by varying output voltage, but they have a step booster on the board that will cause an output of 8 volts, thus exceeding the rated capacity of the fixed RPM fans sold by CAMCOOLERLLC. All fans are tested before being shipped, and no refund will be given on returns if fans do not operate because of overvoltage by the buyer.
Also, note that most portable charger battery banks have an auto-off timer to turn off the battery when not enough current is being drawn or utilized. This can be a problem with operating a GoPro with an internal battery that probably only lasts for about 45 minutes and expecting the portable charger battery bank to keep the GoPro powered when its internal battery runs dead. When the internal battery goes dead, the external portable charger battery bank isn’t on and now the GoPro shuts off losing that valuable game footage.
However, our cooling fans draw enough current to keep the portable charger battery bank always on so they don’t auto-shutoff.
